SimsalaGrimm (sometimes written Simsala Grimm) is a German-French-Irish animated television series, consisting of stories based on fairy tales by the Brothers Grimm, Hans Christian Andersen, and other notable authors. The series was created by André Sikojev, Stefan Beiten and Claus Clausen, and co-produced by Greenlight Media AG, Norddeutscher Rundfunk, and Hahn Film AG for its first season, and Millimages and Magma Films Ltd for its second season.
In each episode of SimsalaGrimm, one of the famous classical fairy tales is told in the magical land of Simsala. The local characters Doc Croc and Yoyo move between the storyteller and the episode cast, which they tend to help or at least inspire. Each episode begins with Doc Croc and Yoyo as toys on a shelf brought to life by a magical book.

Broadcast[]
SimsalaGrimm was originally produced in Germany, with German as its original language. The first season of the series debuted on KiKA on November 1, 1999; the original run of the season ended on July 21, 2000. In 2007, the series was renewed for a second season. This time, it was co-produced in Germany, France and Ireland; because of that, English became the original language of the series. The German dub of the second season began airing on KiKA on December 6, 2010, and ended on December 31, 2010. Since then, it went into re-runs on the channel. The series also aired on NDR and Das Erste in Germany, and on ORF 1 in Austria.
The English dub of the first season began airing on RTÉ2 in Ireland on March 29, 2001, and ABC Kids in Australia in the same year. In the United States, it was released on DVDs between 2004 to 2009 alongside a Latin American Spanish dub, under the title "The Fairy Tales of the Brothers Grimm". The second season of the series was released on DVDs in the United Kingdom.
Release[]
A remastered version of the series, titled "SimsalaGrimm: Re-Version", was released in both German and English on Amazon Prime Video beginning March 2021 in Germany and the United Kingdom.[6] The same remastered version was also released on RTL+ in Germany,[7] and was screened in theaters in 2021 and 2022.
In 2024, as a result of the rights of the series being transferred to another company, episodes of the series in English were uploaded sporadically to the YouTube channel "SimsalaGrimm Official", particularly the remasters. All the episodes would be uploaded to the channel within two weeks.
