Skins is a British teen drama television series that follows the lives of a group of teenagers in Bristol, through the two years of sixth form. The show was created by father-and-son television writers Bryan Elsley and Jamie Brittain.
The show's controversial storylines have explored issues such as mental illness, substance abuse, and sexual identity. The series was known for its raw and realistic portrayal of its characters and their relationships, as well as its use of a non-linear narrative structure. Every story is played out for two seasons, before the cast is replaced by a newer generation. Skins ran for seven seasons and premiered on January 25, 2007 on E4. The series ended on August 5, 2013.

The first season premiered on E4 in the United Kingdom on January 25, 2007. The show ended on August 5, 2013. The series also aired on BBC America in the United States starting from August 17, 2008.[4] The US broadcast has been subject to censorship, with strong language removed as well as intense instances of graphic violence, nudity and sexual intercourse.[5] The series was removed from Netflix in the United States in August 2020.[6] The series continues to be available in select regions on Netflix.[7] The series was added to Hulu in the United States on November 1, 2020.[8]
