Smiling Friends is an Australian-American adult animated television series created by Zach Hadel and Michael Cusack for Cartoon Network's night-time programming block Adult Swim, which revolves around a small charity dedicated to making people smile.

The pilot episode aired April 1, 2020 as a part of Adult Swim's annual April Fools Day event alongside another work of Cusack's, YOLO, and promptly became a hit. The first season premiered on January 10, 2022, with Adult Swim airing all episodes of the season in one night despite initial plans for a weekly release.

Smiling Friends has received acclaim from both audiences and critics for its characterization, humor, writing, and integration of mixed media including 3D animation, stop motion, and live action. The series was renewed for a second season on February 9, 2022, which premiered on May 12, 2024. A third season was also announced at the Annecy International Animation Film Festival on June 14, 2024, which premiered on October 5, 2025.

Notes

• Marc Winslow and Edson Matus from the Latin American Spanish dub make a special cameo appearance in the original English version of the episode "Brother's Egg", when Charlie and Pim speak to each other secretly in Spanish about Professor Psychotic and Doug. The same dialogue is also retained across all the dubs of the series.
• Many of the dubs of certain episodes had used an earlier draft of the music and sound effects track, which had minor differences and would occasionally slip into several international versions of the episodes.
  • In "Pim and Charlie Save Mother Nature", the scene where Mr. Boss gives Allan a cookie initially used a more angelic/emotional BGM track, and was subsequently left in on the Czech, Polish, Brazilian Portuguese and Latin American Spanish dubs of the episode. The final version of the episode uses a sensual jazz music track in the scene.
  • In "Squim Returns", some of the cartoonish running sound effects used for Squim were sped and pitched up. However, in some dubs of the show (except for the Hungarian, Polish and Brazilian Portuguese dubs), these sound effects are played in their original speed and pitch.
