The Adventures of Rocky and Bullwinkle and Friends is an American animated series made by Jay Ward Productions, which originally aired from November 19, 1959 to June 27, 1964. The series originally aired on ABC as Rocky and His Friends, and then moving to NBC in 1961 under the title The Bullwinkle Show, giving the character Bullwinkle J. Moose top billing due to his popularity. A decade after its cancellation, the series aired in syndication on various local network affiliates under either The Rocky and Bullwinkle Show or The Adventures of Bullwinkle and Rocky, alongside airing on Nickelodeon under Bullwinkle's Moose-O-Rama, and on Cartoon Network, alongside its sister network Boomerang.
The series focuses on Rocket J. Squirrel, a flying squirrel who is the brain and straight man of the duo (who anchored the perspective of the show's younger audience), and his best friend Bullwinkle J. Moose, a dim-witted but rather good-natured moose (who carried a bulk of the adult humor with his spontaneous puns). Most of the episodes feature the duo stopping the schemes of the Russian spies Boris and Natasha, who always attempted to catch the moose and squirrel.
