The Lion of Judah is a 2011 South African computer-animated Christian comedy-drama film directed by Deryck Broom alongside Roger Hawkins, from a screenplay by Brent Dawes.
Produced by Animated Family Films and Sunrise Studios, and animated at Character Matters Animation Studio in Cape Town, it serves as a sequel to the made-for-TV special, Once Upon a Stable.
The Lion of Judah retells the story of Easter. The same animals who live in the stable in Bethlehem where Jesus was born now have the chance to witness His Triumphal Entry in Jerusalem, His cleansing of the Temple, His crucifixion and also His resurrection. This film tells the story of Easter in a way that engages children, teens, parents, families, believers and even unbelievers.
It received a limited theatrical release in the United States on June 3, 2011, later following a domestic DVD release on March 27, 2012, through Warner Home Video. It is universally panned by film critics.
