The Muppet Show is a live-action comedy-variety television series produced by Henson Associates and ITC Entertainment for ITV regional network ATV (serving the Midlands at the time), featuring puppeteer Jim Henson's Muppets. It ran for five seasons and 120 episodes, and premiered on September 5th, 1976 until May 23rd, 1981.

The series featured recurring sketches and musical numbers interspersed with plotlines taking place backstage and in other areas of the venue. Within its context, Kermit the Frog acts as showrunner and host, who tries to maintain control of the overwhelming antics of the other Muppet characters, as well as appease the rotating slate of guest stars.
