The Simpsons is an American animated sitcom created by Matt Groening (who also created Futurama and Disenchantment) for the Fox Broadcasting Company. The series is a satirical depiction of American life, epitomized by the Simpson family, which consists of Homer, Marge, Bart, Lisa, and Maggie. The show is set in the fictional town of Springfield and parodies American culture and society, television, and the human condition.
Since its debut on December 17, 1989, 790 episodes of the show have been broadcast. It is the longest-running American animated series, longest-running American sitcom, and the longest-running American scripted primetime television series, both in terms of seasons and number of episodes. A feature-length film, The Simpsons Movie, was released in theaters worldwide on July 27, 2007. The Simpsons is a co-production between Gracie Films and 20th Television Animation.

Censorship[]
- The Season 3 premiere "Stark Raving Dad" is completely absent from Disney+ due to the guest starring of Michael Jackson.
- For the same reasons, it also wasn't included on Kinopoisk in Russia from 2021 to 2022.
- The Season 9 premiere "The City of New York vs. Homer Simpson" was pulled from syndication after the 9/11 attacks of 2001.
- The episode did return in 2006, although it was never censored.
- Some episodes were banned in other countries.
- The Season 5 episode "Cape Feare" was banned in Germany due to the depiction of a Obergrupperführer character (and wearing a complete SS officer's uniform) being the announcer of the show Up Late with McBain.
- It finally premiered in Germany in 1999 with the first scene cut.
- The Season 10 episode "Thirty Minutes Over Tokyo" was not aired in Japan, not available on the Japanese version of the season 10 DVD sets and also the Japanese version of Disney+ streaming service due to the episode mocking Japanese culture and society, including a scene where Homer tosses the Emperor of Japan into a dumpster of sumo thongs.
- It was also likely not aired in South Korea, due to the country's censorship of Japanese content in the media.
- The Season 13 episode "Blame It on Lisa" was temporarily banned in Brazil for similar reasons as "Thirty Minutes Over Tokyo".
- The episode was eventually aired in Fox Channel (now Star Channel) and still airs to this day and it is available in Disney+.
- The Season 16 episode "Goo Goo Gai Pan" was banned in China due to its politically sensitive content. It is also not available on Disney+ in Hong Kong for the same reasons.
- The Season 34 episode "One Angry Lisa" is also absent from Disney+ Hong Kong because the Great Wall of China was depicted.
- The Season 16 episode "Mobile Homer" is absent from the Turkish version of Disney+, likely due to its unflattering portrayal of Turks.
- The Season 19 episode "E Pluribus Wiggum" was also banned in parts of Latin America (except for Chile, Colombia, Mexico or Venezuela) until 2016 due to jokes about former Argentine president Juán Perón.
- The Season 26 episode "Waiting for Duffman" is banned from broadcasting in France due to a law prohibiting the promotion of alcoholic drinks in TV shows.
- Similarly, any mention of Duff in other episodes is censored on TV broadcasts since the early 2010s.[75]
- The episode has however been fully dubbed and broadcasted in Belgium, on both Plug RTL and Tipik. It is also available on Disney+.
- The Season 28 episode "Looking for Mr. Goodbart" was banned in Russia due to a scene where Homer ends up in a church while playing a parody of Pokémon Go (Peekimon Get), which was too similar to a real life incident which occurred in St. Petersburg. It was eventually reran on 2x2, but with the scene in question having been cut. The episode was also present on Kinopoisk, but this time with the scene intact.
- The Season 5 episode "Cape Feare" was banned in Germany due to the depiction of a Obergrupperführer character (and wearing a complete SS officer's uniform) being the announcer of the show Up Late with McBain.

- Starting with season 36, four episodes were ordered by Disney+. The Disney+-exclusive episodes are known as specials and are not considered part of the main show's linear run.[76]
