The Story of Heidi (also known as Heidi in the Mountains) is one of several English dubs of アルプスの少女ハイジ. It is a summarized version of the complete series, in the form of a movie, and with a dub in English, produced in the USA, to be distributed in this same country, and in the United Kingdom. Of all the English dubs, this is the only one for which material exists on the Internet. Produced in the mid-late 1970s, it was released in 1979.
The dub was produced by Claudio Guzmán and Charles Ver Halen, who had already worked in the distribution of the series, being the main people responsible for the distribution of the series in Latin America. Based on the success of the program in Spanish-speaking countries, they produced this dub for audiences in the USA and UK, for whom the series was still unknown.

Trivia[]
- The same Japanese production company of the series would participate in the English version, Zuiyo Eizo, which began producing this shortened version of the series in 1979. Hayao Miyazaki at the time commented that he and Isao Takahata were disassociating themselves from any alternative version. or shortened, from your original work, including this one.
- Beyond the cuts (made more to accommodate time, and not because of censorship), the stories that were selected are not modified at all. The few changes are limited to the proper names of the animals that appear: Joseph, the sheepdog, for example, is called Bernard, possibly in relation to his canine breed, being a St. Bernard dog. For his part, Pichi, Heidi's pet bird, is called Binky Bird in this dub.
