The Super Mario Bros. Super Show! is a live-action/animated series produced by DiC Entertainment and Sei Young Animation, based on the popular Nintendo video game series. The show follows Italian plumber brothers Mario and Luigi, alongside Princess Toadstool and Toad, as they travel through various different worlds battling the evil King Koopa and his minions. Live-action segments featuring real-life versions of Mario and Luigi, played by Captain Lou Albano and Danny Wells respectively, would play before and after the episode's main story. During its initial run, episodes broadcast from Monday to Thursday would feature animated stories based on the Super Mario Bros. series of games, while on Fridays, they would show stories based on another popular Nintendo game, The Legend of Zelda. This show is the first of three Super Mario cartoons produced by DiC, followed by The Adventures of Super Mario Bros. 3 and Super Mario World.
