The Walking Dead is an American post-apocalyptic horror drama television series developed by Frank Darabont, based on the comic book series by Robert Kirkman, Tony Moore, and Charlie Adlard. It premiered on October 31, 2010, and aired exclusively on AMC in the U.S., with international distribution through Fox Networks Group and Disney+. The show concluded on November 20, 2022, after 11 seasons and 177 episodes.
The series became AMC’s biggest show at the time and a huge hit in terms of ratings[1]. Starting with season three, it had the most viewers aged 18 to 49 of any show on cable or network TV. Critics gave it good reviews, and it was nominated for several awards, including a Golden Globe for Best Drama Series and a Writers Guild of America award for Best New Series.[2]
