Tom and Jerry's 50th Birthday Bash is a 1990 American television special produced by TBS and Lynch Entertainment. The special celebrates the then-50th anniversary of the Tom and Jerry franchise, taking a look back in the show's history hosted by John Goodman, with the creators of the duo, William Hanna and Joseph Barbera, making a guest appearance towards the end.
The special first aired on November 30, 1990, a day that wasn't the anniversary of any of the original shorts, but was close to the anniversaries of some. Entertainment Weekly gave it a C-, saying that "Tom & Jerry’s 50th Birthday Bash's low-quality salute befits, therefore, the cartoon makers who went on pretty much to ruin modern cartoons. Roseanne's John Goodman hosts a choppy series of clips and, near the end, Hanna and Barbera come on to congratulate themselves. At the very least, in true Tom-and-Jerry spirit, Goodman should have thrown pies in the cartoonists’ faces."
