Topo Gigio is an Italian animated children's television series, produced by Topo Gigio s.r.l. and Movimenti Production for Rai Ragazzi. It airs on Rai YoYo since 2020. The series is based on the 1959 character of the same name by Maria Perego; this is the last project for the franchise she had worked on, with her husband, before her death in 2019.

Topo Gigio follows the titular witty and heartfelt mouse; everything to him is so new that a boring school project on magnets, a trip to the zoo, a simple game in the backyard or helping a friend are all incredibly exciting things. Gigio has faithful "partners in crime" beside him: his very best friend Zoe, who always helps to make things right, Bike Bob, the perfect buddy to ride with around the city of Townville, and the G-Team (Mole, Pigeon, Bunny Twins, Turtle, and Toad) — a pair of cute critters who only Gigio can understand — ready to join him everywhere in reckless and irresistible adventures!

Broadcast

Although the original language of Topo Gigio is English, the series first premiered on television in its native Italy in 2020.

The English version, produced by Centauro Comunicaciones in Miami, first showed up on Canal Panda in Spain on July 1, 2021 via the secondary audio track; Although the show premiered months prior on the Portuguese feed, the channel does not offer an English audio track.

Through similar means, the English version began broadcasting alongside the Latin American Spanish dub on Discovery Kids in Latin America on October 18, 2021.

Release

An English episode of Topo Gigio, "Journey to Mars", was first uploaded to Vimeo by For Fun Entertainment on October 1, 2019. The company released the episode "Bob the Bomb" two days later. These two episodes have a different opening sequence than the finalized version, that still uses the same footage. On July 2, 2020, "The Hiccup" was uploaded, now using the proper intro. The episodes "Journey to Mars" and "The Judo Lesson" were also uploaded to Vimeo by Lacey Entertainment on an unknown date, however access to them is restricted, as a password is required.
