Winx Club is the French dub of the show of the same name. With France 3 initially serving as the show's primary broadcaster in France, the dub first premiered on their T O 3 programming block - later renamed France Truc, then Toowam, and finally Ludo - on February 11, 2004, and they would go on to premiere the entirety of the original run, consisting of the first four seasons, until some time in 2010. Due to the series' revival in 2011, France 3 premiered the TV specials from November 2011 until February 2012. Nickelodeon networks in French-speaking regions also began airing the series by this time[unverified], due to the acquisition of the Winx Club franchise by Viacom. After airing season 5 from 2012-2013, France 3 would stop broadcasting the series for unknown reasons. They also distributed the dub on DVDs under the France Télévisions Distribution label until December 4, 2013.[2] Nickelodeon also start to diffused the season 5 later in 2013.

Seasons 1-5 were produced by the Belgian branch of Dubbing Brothers, though with songs recorded in France; production of the dub moved from Dubbing Brothers to C YOU SOON for season 6 and 7, due to the acquisition and of the broadcast of the show in Nickelodeon Teen (before calling Nickelodeon 4Teen), and subsequently, the songs began to be recorded in Belgium as well. Coincidentally, new releases moved to Gulli, beginning on October 25, 2014, with the premiere of season 6; said season would later be distributed on DVD by Primal Screen.[3] The seventh season later aired in 2015 with DVD distribution by Citel Video.[4]

Like most international dubs, season 8 was never dubbed.

Notes[]

  • While Cinélume's English dub had already been released to dubbing studios to use as a base, evidenced by this dub having used it as a base, this is the first dub to have been publicly released of the series. It premiered on February 11, 2004, just two weeks after the original Italian version.
  • The opening and ending credits, as well as title cards, are fully localised into French.
    • In seasons 1-3, the French cast credits are specific to every episode.
  • During its broadcast on France 3, the ending credits of seasons 1-3 are different due to its length. It was replaced by a thirty second extract of the opening.
  • In seasons 1-4, this dub used both the Italian and Cinélume's English scripts as reference, with the ending credits referring to the Cinélume English dub as the original in season 1 and the Italian version as the original for seasons 2-4. It uses the English version as a base in the specials and from season 5 onwards, although it continued to use both English and Italian scripts as reference.
  • When Nickelodeon France aired season 5, the theme song was left in English, despite a dubbed theme song existing and being used in all other releases.
  • Despite the studio change, which also included the songs' location changing, any songs that were already dubbed in previous episodes and specials were reused in seasons 6 and 7.
  • Riven's singing voice actor for the song "One to One", Richard Rossingnol, is Méry Lanzafame (Musa)'s real-life husband.

Errors[]

  • In the season 1 ending credits, Tecna's name is misspelt as Techna. This may be due to some scripts from the original versions actually using the latter spelling of the name.[unverified]
  • In episode 107, Bloom calls Pepe (Nero) a chick, even though Pepe is a duck.
  • In episode 119, Roccaluce is misnamed Roccaduce.
  • In episode 124, when "We Girls are the Winx" plays, the SFX from the episode 106 cut of the song can be heard.
  • Throughout season 2, "Pixies" had multiple translations. At the beginning, they were named "mini-fée" (tr. "mini-fairy"), but in episode 219 they are called "lutin" (tr. "elf") and from episode 220 onward the dub merely uses the original name of "pixie". This is all because of the fact that "pixie" has no direct translation in French.
  • Throughout season 2, many songs were left as instrumental, even the ones that had already been dubbed into French like "Combat Power". "I'm Crazy For You" was left as instrumental when it is featured in episode 207, and "We Girls Are the Winx" was only dubbed in episodes 207, 209-212 and 214.
  • In episode 210, the Italian version of "We Girls Are the Winx" plays underneath the French version.
  • In episode 215, the normal audio for the ending theme is used for the special concert ending, causing the Winx's dialogue in the middle to be absent - instead, Méry Lanzafame's vocals for that part play as usual, which do not match the lipsyncing.
  • In episode 221, due to an error of both the Italian and Cinélume English scripts being used as reference, Stella refers to Aisha by her original name at one point, even though her name is Layla in this dub.
  • In episode 225, a random sound clip of Stella yelling plays during her transformation.
  • Throughout season 4, unlike the Italian version which was used as a base, "Enchantix" was not changed to "Believix" in the ending theme.
  • Throughout the four one-hour specials, the season 4 theme song is used and simply cut to the length of the specials' opening titles, which means that it mentions being back and Believix, which are irrelevant to the specials.
    • Unlike the Italian version, which uses the season 4 theme song seamlessly edited to match "Winx, You're Magic Now", the French version plays the song as-is with the season 4 instrumental and all the way through until after the verse, when it then cuts to the ending part.
  • In the opening titles for the four one-hour specials, even though the credits are localised into French, the text reading "Aisha" is not changed to "Layla", which is inaccurate to her name in the dub.
  • In special 3, Bloom's voice actress Carole Baillien is used for Icy summoning the "Crystal Cage" spell.
  • In special 4, Layla's powerline is translated as "Layla, fairy of water" but in the rest of the show it's "Layla, fairy of fluids". This was due to an oversight involving the TV specials being translated from their original English versions.
  • In episode 513, the acapella for the Sirenix transformation song is off-sync and not cut properly.
  • Some episodes of season 5 of this dub were released on YouTube with textless assets at the end after the actual episode finishes.
  • Throughout season 6, the acapella for the theme song is not cut properly, so the last line "Nous sommes les Winx magiques" is taken from the second chorus instead of the end as it was in Italian and English.
  • In episode 601, the acapella for "Way of Sirenix" is used from the full version and not cut properly, so the second verse plays instead of the third verse and is off-sync.
  • In episode 602, the instrumental of the Sirenix transformation song is duplicated and the acapella plays for longer than it should.
