Wolfgang Völz was a German actor and voice actor.

Biography[]

Wolfgang Völz came from Gdańsk, where his mother ran a dairy business. His birth name is often given as Wolfgang Otto Isaak Treppengeländer, but this is not true and is a joke that Völz once made on a talk show. He was already acting in the theatre as a child. He moved away with his mother in 1947. He then completed an apprenticeship as a baker in Hamelin, took acting lessons in Hanover and then studied under Theodor Becker and Max Gaede (1882-1969).

He had been married to the dancer Roswitha Völz, née Karwath from Berlin-Wilmersdorf, since 1955. Their two children, Benjamin Völz and Rebecca Völz, are also active in dubbing.

The actor suffered a stroke in 2014. Wolfgang Völz died on 2 May 2018 at the age of 87 in his home in Berlin-Wilmersdorf. His ashes were buried in the columbarium at Wilmersdorf cemetery on 6 June 2018.
